Temple Grandin Presentation
ANIMAL EXPERT COMING TO TOWN!
Conference will bring canine professionals from around the world
Hutto, TX – Temple Grandin, Ph.D., inarguably the most accomplished and well-known adult with autism in the world, will present a lecture from her new book Animals Make Us Human. The International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) will be gathering in Texas for their 10th Annual Conference at the Triple Crown Dog Academy in Hutto March 18-21 with programs each day from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. This year’s conference is titled “Your Future Success Relies on Dollar$ and S¢ents - Providing the ‘Knows’ for Business and Success.”
Dr. Grandin uses current research that shows wolves in the wild live in family groups consisting of a mother, father and siblings. Since wolves and dogs have much in common, Dr. Grandin begs the question--do dogs living with a human family just need parents to keep them in line, instead of the all-powerful, dominating alpha leader?
Dr. Grandin will explore many canine topics, including:
• The role of the alpha
• Dominance hierarchies
And answer questions:
• How does this relate to the family dog?
• Do dogs need other dogs or are they fine with just people?
• Do dogs really need an alpha leader or do they just need a mom and dad?
• What about doggie day care?
• What do dogs need for their emotional well being?
Dr. Grandin will discuss these issues that are essential to the way we interact with dogs.
The public is invited to attend Dr. Grandin’s lecture on Saturday, March 20 at 2pm. Ticket price is $50 in cash purchased at the door or in advance with a credit card by calling 407-469-2008 or email iacpadmin@mindspring.com.
